The Horse Source LLC ("The Horse Source," "we," "us," or "our") operates a marketplace that helps people list, discover, favorite, and discuss horses. This policy explains the information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you.

Information we collect

We may collect account information such as your name, phone number, email address, authentication provider information, and basic account identifiers. If you create a listing, we collect the listing details and media you choose to provide, including horse information, price, location information, photos, and video.

When you use marketplace features, we may also collect favorites, hidden/swiped listings, messages, contact requests, listing activity, and technical or usage information needed to operate, secure, and improve the service.

Messages and contact information

Messages are available to the participants in that conversation. Your phone number or email address is not automatically displayed to another marketplace user simply because you contact them. Contact details are shared inside a conversation only when you choose to share them through the contact-sharing feature.

Payments

Listing payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full payment-card number. Stripe may collect and process payment and transaction information under its own privacy practices.

How we use information

We use information to provide and maintain the marketplace, authenticate users, publish and manage listings, process payments, deliver messages and contact requests, prevent fraud and abuse, troubleshoot problems, measure product performance, enforce our terms, and comply with legal obligations.

Service providers

We use service providers to operate the platform, including providers for hosting, authentication, database and file storage, security, analytics or diagnostics, and payment processing. These providers may process information on our behalf as needed to provide their services. Current infrastructure may include services from Google/Firebase, Vercel, and Stripe.

Public and marketplace-visible information

Information you place in a horse listing is intended to be shown to marketplace users while the listing is active. Do not include sensitive personal information in a listing description, photo, video, or other public-facing field.

Data retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain transaction and security records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal or accounting requirements. Some information may remain in backups for a limited period after deletion from active systems.

Your choices and rights

You may update available account and listing information through the service. Depending on where you live, you may also have legal rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of certain personal information. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

The Horse Source does not sell personal information to advertisers. We may disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, in connection with a business transfer, or with your direction or consent.

Children and minors

The marketplace is not directed to children under 13. Users who are not old enough to enter binding contracts in their jurisdiction should use transaction-related features only with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian.

Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so users should also protect their account credentials and use caution when sharing personal or payment information with other marketplace participants.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service changes. The effective date above will be revised when we make material updates.
